The Art of Gift Giving and Entertaining At Bernardaud March 31, 2009

The New Meaning of Balling... Bernardaud

The New Meaning of Balling... Bernardaud

Yes, giving gifts is an art. How?   If it is not something valuable to both the giver and the receiver then it is not truly a gift.   If it is not meaningful, it is not a gift.  If there is no effort put into the process, it is not a gift.
A gift is not earned. Its’ motivation is purely out of love… Thus the reason why I have fallen head over heels for Bernardaud.  Bernardaud, the leading manufacturer and exporter of porcelain in France, remains family owned and operated to this day. Since 1863, the insight and techniques for the production of Bernardaud porcelain have been handed down from father to son.  Michel Bernardaud is the fifth generation to become the worldwide ambassador of his family brand.
The tradition of excellence of Bernardaud stems from over 100 years of production in Limoges, France. The innovative design of Bernardaud plates and tableware will bring artistry to your table.
Bernardaud jewelry is truly unique. The porcelain is smooth and sensuous.

The true art of giving begins and ends at Bernardaud.. For all your fine and collectable pieces of Jewelry and Great Table Tops.  Please visit Bernardaud.

A Race To The Alter- Real Bride Nana Eyeson March 31, 2009

Filed under: Planning — worldbride @ 3:33 pm

Hey Ladies,

My name is Nana Eyeson and I am the newest member of The World Bride family. As contributing editor and a fellow bride to be–JULY 18, 2009 to be exact! I’ve been asked to take you ladies along with me on my journey to the alter.. Girls its no joke :) But its WORTH IT!

I like most of you have found the man of my dreams, he proposed, I said yes actually I repeated “is that for me” over and over until a passerby shouted “yes its for you” But I digress. And though we initially thought an intimate wedding in Jamaica would be attainable … we quickly realized that as two children of crazy “African” parents that was not an option. Africans don’t do anything intimate :) I mean heck my mother is one of 14, so you get the idea.

So here we go… 250+ guest later, and 110 days to go the process has began!

As for the inspiration to my madness, its been a bit hard to explain. As I want regal, classic black tie elegance with a chic African twist. And that can sometimes get confused for “Coming to America” and though it was one of my favorite movies not so much for my wedding.

However, the colors were easy to decide on as, my favorite color of all time is Purple… So we are doing a deep purple & cream, with hints of chocolate brown and gold.

So ladies that’s what I have so far… please let me know your thoughts!

Stay tuned -Nana

Real Brides Can Have Real Fabulous Weddings March 30, 2009

Everyone is feeling the economic stress. Either directly or indirectly. So don’t be ashamed if you have to negotiate prices with your vendors. The key is to get the best prices as well as being fair to the vendor. Reasonable is the keyword here. Don’t be insulting. You only humiliate yourself.

Bridal Gowns that once retailed at $6,000.00, floor samples, can probably be sold at a fraction of the price. Instead of getting married on Saturday one of the most expensive days in the wedding industry, how about a Friday night or Sunday brunch?!
Flowers, buy in season. Menu, do light foods work with the chef in selecting your menu. Wedding cakes why not get desserts. Photographer, shop around, look into photography schools or fashion photographer or their assistants.  But I wouldn’t be to cheap when it comes to that area, that is the last thing you will have to remember your wedding. There are plenty of vendors that are willing to work with you to accomplish your goals.
Be respectful and fair. Remember this is your dream they are here to help facilitate it.

Nailing Your Colors March 30, 2009

Getting a manicure for many was a form of luxury.   This is no longer the case nowadays.   It is a necessity.  It should definitely be part of your beauty regime.  Why think of it this way, you are well groomed, hair done, makeup, your best attire; nail polished -chipped, nails cracked, uneven, unpolished.  Why would you do that to yourself.  Some people pay attention to details it is noticed.  Even as a celebrity manicurists I make it my point to keep my nails well groomed.  They may not always be polished with a color, I at least try to keep a base coat and top coat on it.  Some I recommend are m2m damoreJon 3 for 1, Sally Hanson hard as nails, Nail Tek, Diamond Strength, Diamond Shine -Base & Top Coat.  In this economy this is a small “luxury” you can’t afford to miss out on.

Check out one of my favorite store Sephora for their store brand Multi-Action Nail Polish,   strengthening, hardening, ridge-filling nail polish and Nars proves to have some of the hottest colors.
